Key facts
- Licensed Australian wagering providers have been banned from accepting crypto (and credit cards) since 11 June 2024, so crypto gambling happens at offshore sites.
- Crypto payments cannot be reversed: a wrong address or network means the money is usually gone.
- Your balance can change in value while it sits in a casino if it is held in a volatile coin.
- The ATO treats gambling wins as not assessable for recreational gamblers, but crypto you win is a CGT asset if you hold it as an investment.
- The ATO runs data matching with crypto exchanges and other designated service providers.
Why crypto gambling in Australia is offshore
Licensed Australian bookmakers cannot take crypto. Since 11 June 2024, online and phone wagering providers have been banned from accepting credit cards, credit-related products and digital currencies such as crypto. Online casinos and pokies cannot be licensed in Australia at all. So every casino that takes crypto from Australians is an offshore site, outside Australian licensing, BetStop and dispute services. Read are online pokies legal in Australia before you play.
How a crypto casino deposit works
- Buy crypto on an exchange, or use coins you already hold in a wallet.
- In the casino cashier, choose the coin and the network. The casino shows a deposit address, sometimes with a memo or tag.
- Send the coins from your exchange or wallet to that exact address on that exact network.
- The casino credits your balance after the network confirms the transfer.
The network matters. Sending a coin on the wrong network, or leaving out a required memo, can lose the payment for good.
How a crypto withdrawal works
You request the withdrawal, the casino reviews and approves it, then sends coins to the address you give. The network part is usually quick. The casino's review and verification time is usually the slow part, and the casino's withdrawal limits still apply: at Wild Tokyo, entry-level withdrawals are capped at AUD 800 a day, and at Mino Casino at AUD 900 a day.
The risks that come with crypto
| Risk | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| No reversals | A crypto payment cannot be charged back or recalled. Mistakes and scams are usually final. |
| Price swings | If your balance is held in a volatile coin, it can lose or gain value while it sits in the casino. |
| Network fees | Each deposit and withdrawal costs a network fee, which can be significant on small amounts. |
| Wrong network or address | Coins sent to the wrong network or without a required memo can be lost. |
| Offshore operator | There is no Australian body to complain to if a crypto withdrawal is refused. |
What the ATO says about crypto you win
Gambling wins are not taxable for recreational gamblers in Australia: the ATO lists betting and gambling wins as not assessable unless you operate a gambling business; our gambling tax guide has the detail. Crypto is different once you hold it. The ATO says crypto you win is a capital gains tax (CGT) asset if you hold it as an investment, with a cost base equal to its market value when you won it. Selling, swapping or spending it later can trigger a CGT event.
The ATO also runs a crypto data matching program that collects data from crypto designated service providers, such as exchanges, covering 2014-15 to 2025-26. Keep records of what you receive and when.
What we found at our partners
Four of our partners publish their payment methods on a public page, read from an Australian connection on 9 October 2026:
| Partner | Crypto deposits | Crypto withdrawals |
|---|---|---|
| LuckyOnes | Yes: BTC, BCH, LTC, ETH, XRP, DOGE, USDT, ADA, TRX, BNB | Yes |
| Lucky Dreams | Yes: BTC, BCH, LTC, ETH and others | Yes |
| Wanted Win | Yes, from 0.0001 BTC or 0.01 ETH | Yes, listed as instant |
| VegasNow | Yes: BTC, BCH, LTC, ETH, XRP, DOGE, USDT and others | Not read: the withdrawals tab did not open |
The other six partners show payment options only in the cashier after you log in. At any of them, check which coins and networks are offered for both deposits and withdrawals, and whether there are fees or minimums, before you send anything.
Pundit tip: convert winnings you want to keep back to Australian dollars, or a coin you understand, as soon as they land. Leaving them in a casino balance or a volatile coin adds risk you did not sign up for.

Frequently asked questions
Are crypto casinos legal in Australia?
No online casino can legally offer casino games or pokies to people in Australia, whether it takes crypto or not. Licensed Australian bookmakers are also banned from accepting crypto for online bets since 11 June 2024. Crypto casinos used by Australians are offshore and unlicensed in Australia.
Can the ATO see my crypto wallet?
The ATO runs a crypto data matching program that collects information from crypto designated service providers, such as exchanges, covering the 2014-15 to 2025-26 years. Moving money between an exchange and a wallet can show up in that data.
Do I pay tax on crypto casino winnings?
Gambling wins are not assessable income for recreational gamblers. But the ATO says crypto you win is a CGT asset if you hold it as an investment, with a cost base equal to its market value when you won it. Selling or swapping it later can be a CGT event.
How long do crypto casino withdrawals take?
Once the casino approves a withdrawal, a crypto transfer usually confirms on the network within minutes to an hour, depending on the coin and network fees. The casino's own review and verification time comes first and is usually the longer part.
What is the safest coin to use at a crypto casino?
There is no safe coin, but stablecoins pegged to the US dollar avoid the price swings of coins like Bitcoin while your money sits in a casino. They carry their own risks, and you still pay network fees and face the casino's terms.
