Betr review: still trading, now licensed in Tasmania, with loss limits and slow bank payouts

Betr is trading. The Northern Territory register flags it as not currently trading, but its terms now cite a Tasmanian licence, granted in July 2026. It absorbed BlueBet and TopSport customers and offers loss limits.

Good

  • Loss limits as well as deposit limits
  • No monthly fee for idle accounts in the terms
  • 24/7 customer service and phone betting lines

Watch out

  • Bank payouts run on business days: next business day, then 1 to 2 days to clear
  • Licence statements disagree between footer, register and terms
  • Minimum phone bet is $25 in the terms but $20 in the FAQ

Key facts

  • Betr's terms say it is licensed by the Tasmanian Liquor and Gaming Commission; Tasmania announced the new licence on 7 July 2026.
  • The NT register still lists Betr Entertainment Aus Pty Ltd but marks Betr 'Not currently trading', and the site footer still names the NT. The terms are the current statement.
  • Betr is the brand that replaced BlueBet in August 2024 and took over TopSport's customers in 2025.
  • Bank withdrawals may take 1 to 2 business days to clear; requests before 4pm on a business day may be processed the next business day.
  • You can set deposit and loss limits over 24 hours, 7, 14 or 30 days; loosening one waits 7 days.

Verdict

Betr is trading, and scores 6.8 out of 10. That needs saying first, because the Northern Territory register marks Betr "Not currently trading", and anyone checking it could conclude the brand is gone. It is not: it has moved its licence to Tasmania. Its strengths are a loss-limit tool and fair rules on idle accounts. Its weaknesses are bank payouts that run on business days and licence statements that do not yet agree with each other. We read betr.com.au, its general terms (version 1.1), FAQ and contact page, the Tasmanian Government's announcement, the NT register and ASX filings on 8 October 2026.

Betr's licence: what the NT register and its terms say

SourceWhat it says
NT register (page updated 22 June 2026)Betr Entertainment Aus Pty Ltd, Betr: "Not currently trading"
Tasmanian Government, 7 July 2026The independent Tasmanian Liquor and Gaming Commission granted betr Entertainment Limited a Tasmanian Gaming Licence; Betr will set up a headquarters in Tasmania
Betr General Terms, clause 1.1"betr is licensed by the Tasmanian Liquor and Gaming Commission"; it complies with the Gaming Control Act 1993 (Tas)
Betr FAQ"operates under a Tasmanian Gambling Licence"
betr.com.au footerStill reads "Licensed and regulated by the Northern Territory Racing Commission"

The terms are the contract, and they say Tasmania: bets are treated as placed and received there, and Tasmanian courts handle disputes. The footer looks like it has not caught up. If you want a regulator to rule on a dispute, the terms send you to the Tasmanian Commission, not the Northern Territory.

From BlueBet to Betr to TopSport

Betr's parent was BlueBet Holdings, which changed its consumer brand from BlueBet to Betr in August 2024 and renamed the company betr Entertainment Limited in April 2025, keeping the ASX code BBT. On 1 April 2025 the group bought the wagering businesses of TopSport (Merlehan Bookmaking Pty Ltd) for consideration valued at $10 million, and moved TopSport's customers onto Betr within 55 days. Betr's terms deal with migrated accounts, naming "BlueBet Pty Ltd, the former operator of BlueBet". Our BlueBet review and TopSport review explain what happened to each.

Betr withdrawal times

Betr is not in the minutes-not-hours group. Clause 6.11 says requests received before 4pm on a business day "may be processed on the next Business Day", and the FAQ says bank transfers "may take 1-2 business days to clear depending on your bank".

Worked example: request $200 at 2pm on a Friday. On those terms it may be processed on Monday and land between Monday and Wednesday. Bet365 lists 1 to 4 hours for the same transfer.

Three conditions apply before you can withdraw:

  1. Your ID and any card must be verified (clause 6.6).
  2. Each deposit must be turned over at least once (clause 6.3).
  3. Money you deposited by card goes back to that card first; anything above that can go to your bank account.

Deposits

Clause 6.1 lists debit card, BPAY, direct deposit, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayID/EFT and PayPal, and Betr only takes deposits from verified customers. Its FAQ confirms that credit cards and credit-linked wallets are no longer accepted, in line with the national credit ban, and that Betr charges no card fees. Each account gets its own PayID email address; your bank may hold the first transfer.

Loss limits: a tool worth using

Betr offers a loss limit as well as a deposit limit, over 24 hours, 7, 14 or 30 days. Its own example: start a week with a $500 balance and a $100 weekly loss limit, and you can bet until the balance falls to $400, then you are stopped until the period rolls over. A loss limit caps the damage directly, where a deposit limit only caps what you add. Making a limit tighter applies at once; loosening it waits 7 days.

Idle accounts are treated more gently than at most rivals: after 2 years with no login, deposit, withdrawal or bet, Betr either sends you the money or handles it as unclaimed money under the law. The terms state no monthly fee.

Bets and app

The Betr app was rated 4.6 from about 23,000 ratings on the Australian App Store on 8 October 2026. Its listing names Wildcards on AFL Same Game Multis, Sky Racing 1 and 2 streams, fixed odds and tote on all three racing codes including quaddies, trifectas and first fours, and live SGM tracking. The site also has same race multis and a Betr Tote section. The minimum online bet is $1; the minimum phone bet is $25 in the terms but $20 in the FAQ, so check before you ring.
