Key facts
- We could not confirm a current no deposit offer for Australians at any of our partners, and their welcome offers showed in euros from our location, so we list no bonus amounts.
- Wild Tokyo's and Mino Casino's shared bonus terms cap withdrawals at AUD 80 from a registration no deposit bonus and AUD 170 from no deposit loyalty bonuses or free spins.
- The same terms set an AUD 8 maximum bet, 48 hours to activate and 5 days to wager. Pokies count 100%, roulette 5%, and live dealer, table and jackpot games are off limits.
- Our maths: a $100 welcome bonus at 35x needs $3,500 in bets, costing about $140 at 96% RTP. A $10 no deposit bonus at 50x cleared only about 4% to 12% of the time in our simulation.
- Online casinos cannot be licensed in Australia, so every bonus here comes from an offshore operator.
What we can confirm about no deposit and welcome bonuses
We could not confirm a current no deposit offer for Australian players at any of our partners. Their promotion pages change with your location: from ours, Wild Tokyo and Mino Casino showed their welcome offers in euros. So we do not repeat those amounts as Australian offers, and we do not call any site a "no deposit casino" until its own pages confirm the offer. Check the cashier and promotions page in your own account.
What we can confirm is the rulebook. Wild Tokyo and Mino Casino publish the same general bonus terms, which apply to every promotion unless the promotion page or email adds its own rules. Online casinos cannot be licensed in Australia, so every bonus here comes from an offshore operator, and no Australian regulator checks that the terms are fair. Types of casino bonus
Every casino bonus is credit or spins with conditions, and the main condition is wagering: you must bet the bonus a set number of times before anything won with it can be withdrawn. Whether a bonus is sticky or non-sticky also decides what you can take out, and our casino glossary defines the rest of the jargon.
| Bonus type | What you get | The usual catch |
|---|---|---|
| Welcome match | A percentage of your first deposit, often with free spins | Wagering on the bonus, sometimes on deposit plus bonus |
| No deposit bonus | A small bonus or free spins for signing up | A low cap on what you can withdraw |
| Free spins | Spins on set pokies at a fixed bet | Winnings capped and wagered |
| Reload | A smaller match on later deposits | Same wagering, smaller bonus |
| Cashback | A percentage back, often of deposits | Usually wagered; see our casino cashback guide |
| Loyalty and bonus shop | Bonuses bought with points or earned by level | Winnings capped; 3 bonus shop purchases per 24 hours |
The rules in our partners' bonus terms
These rules cover welcome bonuses, no deposit bonuses and every other promotion at both casinos. Our casino bonus terms guide explains each clause with real wording from casinos' own terms.
| Rule | What the terms say |
|---|---|
| Maximum bet while a bonus is active | AUD 8, including bonus buys, purchased bonus rounds and bet doubling |
| Activating a bonus | Within 48 hours of it being credited |
| Deposit promo codes | Within 48 hours of the deposit, or they expire |
| Time to finish wagering | 5 days after activation, unless stated otherwise |
| Bonuses at a time | One active bonus; deposit bonuses do not stack |
| Bonuses per household | One offer per person, family, address, email, IP address, phone number, card, e-wallet or payment account, and device |
| Order money is used | Your withdrawable money first, then bonus money |
| Withdrawing early | Cancels the bonus and its winnings |
| While a withdrawal is pending | No bonus can be credited |
| Large bonuses | May be credited in two equal parts, 24 hours apart |
What you can keep: the winnings caps
| Type of bonus | Most you can withdraw from its winnings |
|---|---|
| No deposit bonus granted on registration | AUD 80 |
| No deposit bonuses or free spins given as "loyalty bonuses" | AUD 170 |
| Bonuses or spins from tournaments, the bonus shop or a new loyalty level | AUD 800 |
The terms say any winnings above the cap are deducted from your balance. A lucky $600 hit on sign-up spins becomes $80. Deposit bonuses are not on this list, so look for a cap on the welcome offer's own page.
Which games count
The game list matters as much as the numbers. Pokies count 100% towards wagering, eligible instant games 10% and roulette 5% (live roulette does not count). Live dealer games, table games and jackpots cannot be played with an active bonus at all. The terms then exclude hundreds of named pokies, plus every game from Amusnet, EGT Digital and Red Tiger. Check your favourite game against that list before you accept anything.
How a no deposit bonus works
You sign up, the casino credits free spins or a small bonus balance, and you play it. Activate it within 48 hours, finish the wagering within 5 days, keep every bet at AUD 8 or less, and the winnings up to the cap become withdrawable. Miss any of those and the bonus goes, along with what it won.
Free spins no deposit: the maths
Free spins have a fixed value you can work out. Example numbers, not a partner offer:
- 20 free spins at $0.20 each put $4.00 through the pokie.
- At 96% RTP the average return is $4.00 x 0.96 = $3.84.
- If those winnings must be wagered 40 times, that is $3.84 x 40 = $153.60 in bets.
- Those bets cost $153.60 x 4% = $6.14 on average.
So the average free spins win is smaller than the cost of the wagering on it. That is why most free spins end with nothing withdrawable, and a few end at the cap.
How often a no deposit bonus pays out
We simulated a $10 no deposit bonus with 50x wagering ($500 in bets) and the AUD 80 cap, on two made-up pokies with 96% RTP, one low and one high volatility, 60,000 times each. This is our own model, not casino data.
| Model and bet size | Cleared the wagering | Average withdrawable per bonus |
|---|---|---|
| Low volatility, $0.50 spins | about 12% | about $3.85 |
| Low volatility, $1 spins | about 10% | about $4.70 |
| High volatility, $0.50 spins | about 6% | about $3.95 |
| High volatility, $1 spins | about 4% | about $3.10 |
Roughly nine times in ten you get nothing. The average value of a $10 no deposit bonus, after wagering and the cap, comes out at $3 to $5. Not a scam, but not free money either. Treat one as a free look at the site: see how support and verification work before you ever deposit.
Welcome bonus maths: what a deposit match costs to clear
A welcome bonus is bigger than a no deposit bonus, and so is the betting it demands. These are our own example numbers, not a partner's offer. You deposit $100 and get a 100% match, so $100 of bonus, with wagering of 35 times the bonus:
- Bets required: 35 x $100 = $3,500.
- Average cost of those bets at 96% RTP: $3,500 x 4% = $140.
- At the AUD 8 maximum bet that is at least 438 spins; at $1 a spin, 3,500 spins.
- With 5 days to finish, $1 spins mean 700 a day.
The $140 average cost is more than the $100 bonus. Results vary a lot, so you will not always lose more, but on average the betting the bonus demands costs more than it gives. If the same 35x applied to deposit plus bonus ($200), the bets required would double.
| Wagering on a $100 bonus | Bets required | Average cost at 97% RTP | At 96% RTP | At 94% RTP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 20x | $2,000 | $60 | $80 | $120 |
| 30x | $3,000 | $90 | $120 | $180 |
| 35x | $3,500 | $105 | $140 | $210 |
| 40x | $4,000 | $120 | $160 | $240 |
| 50x | $5,000 | $150 | $200 | $300 |
Pick higher-RTP games and the cost drops, which is why the game's own RTP figure matters. Our highest RTP pokies guide explains where to find it, and the wagering requirements calculator runs any offer.
What makes a casino sign up bonus worth taking
A sign up bonus is worth taking when it costs little to clear and lets you keep what you win. Check five things before you opt in:
- Low wagering. 20x on the bonus beats 40x on deposit plus bonus by a long way.
- Time to play. Five days is tight at small stakes. Work out spins per day first.
- No winnings cap, or a high one.
- Your games allowed. Hundreds of pokies, and whole providers, can be excluded.
- A maximum bet you will stick to. One spin over AUD 8 can cost the bonus.
Bonus or real money play?
You can say no. Both casinos' terms say players can refuse any bonus and can cancel one before the wagering is met. Without a bonus, your deposit is real money: no bonus wagering, no maximum bet and no excluded games. The casino's normal withdrawal rules still apply, such as Wild Tokyo's right to withhold up to 10% if you withdraw after betting less than three times your deposit.
Pundit tip: read the excluded games list before the welcome offer. If the pokies you came to play are on it, the bonus is worth nothing to you.
No deposit bonus codes
Codes are how many no deposit offers are claimed: you type one at sign-up or in the bonus section. Things to know before you use one:
- Timing. A credited bonus must be activated within 48 hours, and deposit promo codes expire 48 hours after the deposit.
- One per household. If someone at your address, or on your device or payment account, already claimed the offer, your winnings can be cancelled.
- Source. A code posted on a forum or social media may be fake, expired or for a different country.
- Checks before payout. Expect identity verification before the first withdrawal. Our casino verification process guide lists the documents.
Pokies free spins on sign up
Sign-up spins are normally locked to one pokie at a fixed bet, and the exclusion list means you cannot move them to a game you prefer. If you just want to try pokies with no money at stake, free pokies in demo mode do that without any terms at all.
Red flags in bonus terms
- A "no deposit" offer that needs your card details to "verify" the bonus.
- A demand to deposit before no deposit winnings can be withdrawn, when the offer said nothing of the kind.
- Winnings caps buried in the general terms rather than shown on the offer.
- A maximum bet that includes bonus buys, so one feature purchase breaks the rule.
- Wide clauses that let the casino cancel winnings. Both casinos' terms reserve the right to cancel all bonuses and winnings, and confiscate funds, if they were "obtained unfairly or in violation of the rules".
- Bonuses credited in instalments, so the headline amount is not all there on day one.
- A casino on ACMA's blocked list. ACMA has asked internet providers to block 1,822 illegal gambling and affiliate websites since 2019, and blocked brands often return on new domain names.
Frequently asked questions
Are there real no deposit bonuses in Australia?
Offshore casinos do advertise them, but we could not confirm a current one at any of our partners, and no online casino can be licensed in Australia. Where a no deposit bonus exists, the terms usually cap what you can withdraw at a small amount.
How much can I win from a no deposit bonus?
As much as the cap allows. Wild Tokyo's and Mino Casino's bonus terms limit withdrawals from a registration no deposit bonus to AUD 80, and from no deposit loyalty bonuses or free spins to AUD 170. Anything above the cap is removed from your balance.
Are free spins on sign up worth it?
They are worth a small amount on average. 20 free spins at 20 cents put $4 through a pokie, which returns about $3.84 on average at 96% RTP, before any wagering on the winnings or a cap.
What is the best casino sign up bonus in Australia?
The one that costs least to clear and lets you keep what you win: low wagering, a long time limit, no cap on winnings and your favourite pokies not on the excluded list. A smaller bonus at 20x usually beats a bigger one at 40x, because the betting it demands costs less.
Can I withdraw a welcome bonus as real money?
Not straight away. You have to bet the bonus a set number of times first. Under Wild Tokyo's and Mino Casino's terms, asking for a withdrawal before that cancels the bonus and its winnings, and only your remaining real money can be withdrawn.
Which games can I play with a casino bonus?
Mostly pokies. Wild Tokyo's and Mino Casino's terms count pokies at 100%, eligible instant games at 10% and roulette at 5%, and do not allow live dealer games, table games or jackpots with an active bonus. The maximum bet is AUD 8, including bonus buys.
Can I refuse a casino bonus?
Yes. Both casinos' terms say players can refuse any bonus and can cancel a bonus before its wagering is met. Playing without a bonus leaves your deposit free of wagering rules.
