Skrill casino Australia: fees, the Australian credit card rule and Skrill's own terms

Skrill is a UK e-money wallet that many offshore casinos list. Its Australian fee schedule, its ban on illegal gambling payments and its credit card rule matter more than the logo on a cashier.

Key facts

  • Skrill is a trading name of Skrill Limited, authorised by the UK Financial Conduct Authority under the Electronic Money Regulations 2011.
  • Skrill says credit cards issued in Australia cannot be used for gambling transactions anywhere in the world, so a Skrill casino deposit has to come from debit, bank or another source.
  • Skrill's Australian fee schedule: 4.49% on currency conversion, 3% (minimum EUR 3.50) to withdraw to a bank, and EUR 5 a month after 6 months without activity.
  • In our calculation, a A$1,000 payout that is converted and then sent to your bank loses about $73.55, or 7.4%.
  • None of our partners lists Skrill on a public payments page, and several offshore casinos exclude Skrill deposits from welcome bonuses.

What Skrill is, and what it is not

Skrill is an e-money wallet. Its terms describe it as a trading name of Skrill Limited, a company incorporated in England and Wales and authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority under the Electronic Money Regulations 2011. You load money in, pay merchants from the balance and withdraw back to a bank. The casino sees your Skrill account, not your card or bank details.

What Skrill is not: a gambling regulator, or a sign that a casino is legal. Section 11.2 of Skrill's terms says "It is strictly forbidden to make payments to or to receive payments from persons or entities offering illegal gambling", and that it is "your responsibility to ensure that you do not use our services for transactions that may be considered illegal". Skrill can suspend an account, or refuse or reverse a transaction, if it believes a payment breaks those rules, and section 11.6 allows an administration fee of up to EUR 150 when it does.

That matters in Australia, because online casino games and online pokies cannot legally be offered to people here. Skrill's terms put the risk of that on you.

The Australian credit card rule

Skrill's own FAQ names Australia. Credit cards issued in Australia, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Belgium "cannot be used for gambling transactions anywhere in the world." So a Skrill balance you plan to send to a casino or bookmaker cannot come from an Australian credit card. For licensed Australian bookmakers, ACMA's credit ban already blocks any wallet funded from a credit card. Our credit card gambling guide covers both rules.

Skrill fees for Australian accounts

Skrill publishes a fee page for Australia. These are the personal account fees it lists (read 9 October 2026); most are set in euros.

What you doFee on Skrill's Australian schedule
Deposit by Visa, Mastercard, Diners or JCB0% (your card issuer may still charge a cash advance fee for gambling)

Withdraw to a bank account3%, minimum EUR 3.50
Withdraw by SWIFT3%, minimum EUR 3.50
Withdraw to Neteller3.49%

Worked example: what a A$1,000 payout costs

A casino pays out the equivalent of A$1,000 into your Skrill account in another currency, and you move it to your Australian bank account. In our calculation:

  1. Converting to AUD at 4.49% costs $44.90, leaving $955.10.
  2. Withdrawing to your bank at 3% costs $28.65.
  3. Total cost: about $73.55, or 7.4% of the payout.

If the payout arrives already in AUD and needs no conversion, the bank withdrawal alone is $30. Either way, that is a cost a direct bank transfer or PayID payment would not have. And if you leave a small balance sitting in Skrill for six months, the EUR 5 monthly service fee starts eating it.

Skrill and casino bonuses

E-wallet deposits are often treated differently in bonus terms. Three offshore casinos we have reviewed spell it out in their own terms:

  • Spin Samurai: welcome deposit bonuses are not available if you deposit with Skrill or Neteller. See our Spin Samurai review.
  • SkyCrown: Skrill and Neteller deposits are excluded from welcome bonuses.
  • CrownPlay: Neteller and Skrill deposits are excluded from the welcome package.

All three are on ACMA's blocked list (CrownPlay through its mirror domains). Some general bonus terms also treat a Skrill account as an identity: Wild Tokyo's and Mino Casino's terms allow one bonus per person, household, device and "payment system account (Neteller, Skrill and etc.)", so two people sharing one Skrill account count as one.

Pundit tip: if a bonus matters to you, read the payment exclusions before the bonus amount. A Skrill deposit that does not qualify turns a welcome offer into a plain deposit.

What we found at our partners

None of our partners lists Skrill. LuckyOnes, VegasNow, Lucky Dreams and Wanted Win publish their payment methods, and Skrill is not among them; the others show methods only behind a login. So we cannot point you to a partner that accepts Skrill, and we do not guess.

Deposit and withdrawal: how it usually runs

  1. Verify your Skrill account and load it from a debit card or bank account in your own name.
  2. At the casino cashier, choose Skrill and approve the payment in Skrill.
  3. Expect the casino to ask for proof of the Skrill account during identity checks. Our casino verification guide lists what is usually requested.
  4. Withdraw back to Skrill if the casino offers it, then to your bank, paying the fees above.

Some casinos list an e-wallet for deposits only (SkyCrown's payments page does this with Neteller), so check both directions before you pay.

Should you use Skrill for gambling?

Skrill earns its place if you value keeping card and bank details away from a site you do not know. It costs more than it looks, though, once conversion and withdrawal fees stack up, and it does not make an offshore casino any safer. If you decide to play, set a limit first; our responsible gambling page has free tools and support. Frequently asked questions

Can I use Skrill at online casinos in Australia?

Some offshore casinos list Skrill, but none of our partners does on its public pages. Skrill's terms forbid payments to or from anyone offering illegal gambling and make you responsible for checking a transaction is legal where you are. Online casino games cannot legally be offered to people in Australia.

Can I fund Skrill with an Australian credit card for gambling?

No. Skrill's FAQ says credit cards issued in Australia, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Belgium cannot be used for gambling transactions anywhere in the world.

What does Skrill charge Australians?

On its Australian fee schedule: card deposits are free, Paysafecard top-ups cost up to 5%, currency conversion costs 4.49%, bank withdrawals cost 3% with a EUR 3.50 minimum, and an inactive account pays EUR 5 a month.

Does a Skrill deposit count for casino bonuses?

Often not. Spin Samurai, SkyCrown and CrownPlay all exclude Skrill deposits from their welcome bonuses in their own terms. Read the bonus terms before you pick the method.

Is Skrill safer than paying a casino by card?

It keeps your card and bank details away from the casino, which is a real privacy gain. It does nothing about the casino itself: offshore casinos have no Australian licence, and Skrill can refuse or reverse a payment it believes breaks its rules.
