- playup.com.au still works, and its footer says all bets are accepted on behalf of NextBet Pty Ltd, licensed by the NT Wagering Commission.
- Your PlayUp username and password work on NextBet, and limits and exclusions apply across NextBet, PlayUp and Draftstars.
- Withdrawals are normally processed the same day, Monday to Friday, excluding NSW public holidays. Bank payouts have a $10 minimum.
- Accounts with no transactions for 12 months can be charged $10 a month.
Verdict
PlayUp scores 6.0 out of 10, but the more useful answer is about what PlayUp now is. Since 1 March 2026 it has been a front door to NextBet: same platform, same account, same Northern Territory licence. That is fine for safety. It is less good for money, because NextBet processes withdrawals on weekdays only and charges dormant accounts sooner than most. We read NextBet's migration FAQ and terms (13 August 2026, Rev 1.4) on the PlayUp help centre, the PlayUp footer, the NT register, the App Store and ACMA on 8 October 2026.
What happened to PlayUp
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| Before 2026 | PlayUp and CrossBet run as separate brands |
| By late February 2026 | NextBet's FAQ says it has acquired both; CrossBet goes offline from 11:59pm AEDT on 26 February, PlayUp from 11:30pm AEDT on 28 February |
| 1 March 2026 | PlayUp and CrossBet accounts transfer to NextBet |
| Now | PlayUp still accessible at playup.com.au; CrossBet retired; Draftstars continues as part of NextBet |
NextBet calls PlayUp a brand that "will continue to operate in the short-term" and "strongly" recommends moving to nextbet.com.au and the NextBet app. The PlayUp site footer now reads "All bets accepted on behalf of NextBet Pty Ltd", licensed by the Northern Territory Wagering Commission. On the NT register, Nextbet Pty Ltd has three trading names: Nextbet, PlayUp and Draftstars. NextBet's latest account terms list only NextBet and Draftstars as brands, which fits its description of PlayUp as a short-term name.
PlayUp login after the move
- Your PlayUp username and password work on the NextBet app and on nextbet.com.au.
- The old PlayUp app updates itself into the NextBet app; the App Store now also shows a separate new PlayUp app, both sold by PlayUp Australia Pty Ltd.
- Former CrossBet customers needed to download NextBet and set a new password with the same email.
- Forgotten password: NextBet's reset link, or support on 1800 752 987.
Because it is one account, everything follows you: wagering limits, responsible gambling settings, restrictions, promotions and bonuses apply across NextBet, PlayUp and Draftstars, and NextBet says they "cannot be separated, duplicated, or bypassed" by betting through another brand.
Deposits
NextBet's terms include a payment table: Visa debit, Mastercard debit, Apple Pay and PayID are instant from $0.10 up to $100,000; direct deposit and BPAY take 1 to 2 business days; CashUp is instant up to $2,000 a deposit and $10,000 a month. A first debit card deposit may need confirming with your bank. There are no credit cards, which licensed bookmakers have been barred from accepting since 11 June 2024.
Withdrawals
Clause 7.8 says withdrawals are "normally processed same day between Monday to Friday (excluding NSW Public holidays)". The withdrawal table shows direct deposit to your bank within 24 hours on business days, from a $10 minimum. Deposits must be turned over once first, all debit cards on the account must be verified, and your first withdrawal may go back to your debit card up to the amount you deposited with it.
The weekday rule matters around big race days. Win on a Saturday at Flemington and request your money that evening: on NextBet's terms it is processed from Monday, and a NSW public holiday on the Monday pushes it to Tuesday.
Fees and limits
Clauses 9.18 and 9.19 treat an account with no transactions for 12 consecutive months as dormant, with a fee of $10 a month including GST until you transact, close the account or the balance hits $0. That is $120 over a year, so withdraw a balance you no longer use.
Deposit limits can be set for 7, 14 or 30 days and apply across all NextBet brands immediately; you can raise or remove one once the current period has expired. The minimum bet is $0.50 online and $20 by phone.
Bets and features
The new PlayUp app listing leans on racing form: Easy Form ratings, Live Yard mounting-yard analysis before each race, custom rewards and daily fantasy through Draftstars. Fantasy contests run under their own Draftstars terms. For a primer on reading form, see our how to bet on horses guide.
Regulator history
The only ACMA matter we found is from the old business: in May 2021 ACMA formally warned Play Up Interactive Pty Ltd for providing credit to a customer by accepting 33 bets with insufficient funds between June and October 2018. That predates NextBet. If you are weighing up NextBet itself as a new name, our new betting sites Australia guide lists what to check, and our Betr review covers another brand that absorbed rivals' customers.
